About Our Building: Artifacts Gallery is located in a Victorian storefront located at 1025 South Broad Street, at the corner of Elm Street in South Trenton. The building was built by the Zickwolff family as a bar with their living quarters above. Many of the architectural details remain intact. The area below the storefront windows is covered in mosaic tile with tile air vents. Above the plate glass is a "Luxfer" textured glass course. The original walk-in refrigerator still sits in the basement; the original "two-seater" outhouse is boarded over but still there. The bar closed during prohibition and never re-opened. The owners' living quarters were divided into two apartments. Over the decades the storefront became a ladies' hair salon, a stained-glass studio, political campaign headquarters, and in 1986, Artifacts Gallery. We are the second owners of this 100 plus year old building, having purchased it from a descendant of the Zickwolff family.
